Travel Tryouts Info

2026 Fall - 2027 Spring Travel Season registration opens May 2, 2026.

ALL PLAYERS MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED.

The Travel Program is for all eligible players that attend grades 3 through 8 in the 2026-2027 school year. Players are separated by gender and placed on teams based on ability.
Dates and times for the 2026 Fall - 2027 Spring Travel Season Tryouts will be announced within a couple of weeks.  The times are dependent on how many players register for each group.

All players must attend at least one tryout unless otherwise excused by the Board if they are to be considered for placement on a Travel Team. Attending only one tryout may affect team placement.
In the event that a player cannot attend a tryout, please submit an email to the Registrar or present a written notice at the Check-in time indicating the reason for the absence prior to the start of the tryout. If the Board of Directors finds the excuse acceptable, the player will be eligible for selection.

Location: Joyce Middle School Soccer Fields
Dates and times are subject to change due to the weather, field conditions or other circumstances.

What to bring to the Tryouts:
Bring plenty of water.
What to wear to the tryouts.
     T-shirt, soccer shorts, long socks covering their shin pads. Players must wear shin pads. Sweatshirts and sweatpants may be worn based on the weather.
     Players can not wear their current uniform shirt or shorts.
     Players can not wear any jewelry except for medical reasons.
     Players can not participate if wearing any type of hard brace or cast. Knee braces that have a hard frame must be covered by an approved covering.


Travel Team Placement Announcement 
Parents and players selected for a Travel team will receive an email notification to Accept their placement within the first two weeks of July.
The total cost to play on a Travel team for the 2026 Fall - 2027 Spring season is $300.00 when selecting to Accept.
We have the following options for payment:
1. Full Payment Option: Pay the full amount.
2. Select one of our Monthly Payment Plan options.  This option splits the payment into equal payments.  The first payment is due immediately.  The final payment is due by December 1, 2026.

Parents and players not selected for a Travel team will receive an email notification that they will be placed on a City League team or placed on the waitlist.

The cost to play City League is $190 for the Fall - Spring season.

2026 Fall - 2027 Spring Travel Program

Woburn Youth Soccer offers competitive Travel soccer to Woburn residents only.

Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 Travel Program is for all eligible players that attend grades 3 through 8 in the 2026-2027 school year. Players are separated by gender and placed on teams based on ability.

The 2027 Spring Travel Program is for all eligible players that attend grades 9, 10, 11, 12 and 1st year Post Grad in the 2026-2027 school year. 

For the Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 season, grade groups are determined by the grade the player is entering in September 2026. Please note that Rising Grade means the grade your child will be in September 2026.

Woburn Youth Soccer participates in the Essex County Youth Soccer League. Teams generally practice two evenings a week and play games on Saturdays either home in Woburn or away at any of the cities within the Northeast and the North Shore areas. Fall games typically start the Saturday after Labor Day and spring games typically start the second Saturday in April.

Being selected to play in the WYS Travel Program should be considered an honor, prevents another player from being selected for the team and comes with an implied level of commitment. Both Player and Parent/Guardian should be aware that by accepting placement on the Travel Team, this commitment starts just after Labor Day (2026) and ends at the end of June (2027).

Evaluations are required for players trying out to play Travel and teams are formed and placed into divisions based on the team's composition. Therefore, it is requested that players who register to play Travel soccer follow through with that commitment. There is an impact when players decide not to play after teams are formed since players cannot be easily moved between teams to balance the numbers and teams may be left short on players.

Please note that no one has been placed on a travel team for this upcoming season even if a player is currently on a Travel team or was on a Travel team in a previous year.

The total cost to play Grade 3 - 8 Travel is $300.00. The $300 balance is due to be paid by September 1st after placement on a Travel team.

The total cost to play Grade 9 - 12 + PG Travel for the 2027 Spring season is $180.00.

Players not selected for a Travel team will be placed on a City League team or placed on the waitlist.
The cost to play City League is $190 for both the Fall and Spring seasons.
